Middlehurst Station is one of New Zealand's original high country farms. Located in the heart of Marlborough's Awatere Valley and extending to the top of the inland Kaikōura Ranges, this vast 16,000 hectare station epitomises the high country spirit.

The station is top producer of fine Merino wool used by innovative clothing and footwear brands and the owners are dedicated to applying best-in-class sustainable farming techniques and initiatives.

Guests on the Tūtira experience at Middlehurst Station will be fully immersed in the rich landscape of the Awatere Valley, from the wide river beds and gentle inclines around the homestead to the varied backcountry and rugged peaks of the upper station. During the day, guests and their guide use late model electric motorbikes to explore a range of landscapes and alpine terrain, and in the evening enjoy cuisine expertly prepared by the on-site chef, and exceptional lodgings.

    Experience features

    A climate positive experience

Middlehurst Station has an environmental action plan that includes measuring and understanding the farm's carbon footprint, protecting native forests and habitat for biodiversity through large-scale fencing initiatives, and applying innovative pastoral management processes.

The 10% donation made by Tūtira on behalf of all guests contributes to this action plan by supporting work in the areas of biodiversity enhancements and protection through native tree planting and fencing, and the control of invasive species.

Tūtira also offsets all carbon emitted by guests during their experience, including flights.
